A compass for reading across traditions.
Sacred Text Compass is a free platform for reading sacred texts and exploring their stories, languages and historical context. It brings together 13 works and 27 identified editions for curious readers, students and people returning to a familiar text.
Start with the text
Browse the collection, search for a phrase or reference, and follow a passage back to its chapter. English translations and original-language editions retain their own wording and numbering. Availability and coverage vary by work.
Keep context in view
Use parallel reading to view editions together, or save selected excerpts with your own comparison notes. Question guides invite questions across traditions; stories, places and historical events offer another way into the texts. Similar words do not necessarily express the same idea.
Your own reading space
Notes, highlights, bookmarks and comparisons stay in your browser. No account is required, and libraries do not automatically sync between browsers. Back up your library to keep it safe or move it to another device; see backup and migration help.
Sources before claims
This project takes a cultural and historical approach. It does not speak for religious communities, rank their beliefs or claim their endorsement. Source and licensing records identify the editions used; editorial principles explain how text, tradition and evidence are distinguished.
