Rumi gives poetic form to Sufi teaching
1207–1273 CE
Rumi combined the roles of religious teacher, community figure, and poet. His encounter with Shams of Tabriz became a turning point in his writing. Persian verse offered a powerful medium for exploring spiritual love, separation, and learning within an Islamic devotional world.
