iti37:0.2The Book of the Twos

iti37:0.3Chapter One

iti37:0.4Happiness

iti37:1.1This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.

iti37:2.1“Mendicants, when a mendicant has two qualities they’re full of joy and happiness in this very life, and they have laid the groundwork for ending the defilements.

iti37:2.2What two?

iti37:2.3Being inspired at inspiring places, and making a suitable effort when inspired.

iti37:2.4When a mendicant possesses these two qualities they’re full of joy and happiness in this very life, and they have laid the groundwork for ending the defilements.”

iti37:2.5The Buddha spoke this matter.

iti37:2.6On this it is said:

iti37:3.1“At inspiring places

iti37:3.2an astute person should be inspired;

iti37:3.3a keen and alert mendicant

iti37:3.4should examine with wisdom.

iti37:4.1A mendicant living like this, with keen energy,

iti37:4.2peaceful not restless,

iti37:4.3devoted to serenity of heart,

iti37:4.4attains the ending of suffering.”

iti37:5.1This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
