iti55:0.1So It Was Said 55

iti55:0.2The Book of the Threes

iti55:0.3Chapter One

iti55:0.4Searches (2nd)

iti55:1.1This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.

iti55:2.1“Mendicants, there are these three searches.

iti55:2.2What three?

iti55:2.3The search for sensual pleasures, the search for continued existence, and the search for a spiritual path.

iti55:2.4These are the three searches.”

iti55:2.5The Buddha spoke this matter.

iti55:2.6On this it is said:

iti55:3.1“The search for sensual pleasures, for continued existence,

iti55:3.2and the search for a spiritual path;

iti55:3.3the holding tight to the thought, ‘this is the truth’,

iti55:3.4and the mass of grounds for views—

iti55:4.1for one detached from all lusts,

iti55:4.2freed by the ending of craving,

iti55:4.3that searching has been relinquished,

iti55:4.4and those grounds for views eradicated.

iti55:4.5With the ending of searches, a mendicant

iti55:4.6is free of hope and indecision.”

iti55:5.1This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
