iti9:1.1This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.
iti9:2.1“Mendicants, without directly knowing and completely understanding greed, without dispassion for it and giving it up, you can’t end suffering.
iti9:2.2By directly knowing and completely understanding greed, having dispassion for it and giving it up, you can end suffering.”
iti9:2.3The Buddha spoke this matter.
iti9:2.4On this it is said:
iti9:3.1“When overcome by greed
iti9:3.2beings go to a bad place.
iti9:3.3Having rightly understood that greed,
iti9:3.4the discerning give it up.
iti9:3.5Once they’ve given it up,
iti9:3.6they never return to this world.”
iti9:4.1This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
