iti94:0.1So It Was Said 94

iti94:0.2The Book of the Threes

iti94:0.3Chapter Five

iti94:0.4Examination

iti94:1.1This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.

iti94:2.1“A mendicant should examine in whatever way such that, while examining, consciousness would neither be scattered nor diffused externally, nor stuck internally, and they would not be anxious because of grasping.

iti94:2.2When consciousness is neither scattered nor diffused externally, nor stuck internally, and they are not anxious because of grasping, there is no coming to be of the origin of suffering—of rebirth, old age, and death in the future.”

iti94:2.3The Buddha spoke this matter.

iti94:2.4On this it is said:

iti94:3.1“For one who has given up seven chains,

iti94:3.2a mendicant who has cut the cord,

iti94:3.3transmigration through births is finished,

iti94:3.4there’ll be no more future lives for them.”

iti94:4.1This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
