thig5.4:0.1Verses of the Senior Nuns 5.4

thig5.4:0.2The Book of the Fives

thig5.4:0.3Sundarīnandā

thig5.4:1.1“Nandā, see this bag of bones as

thig5.4:1.2diseased, filthy, and rotten.

thig5.4:1.3With mind unified and serene,

thig5.4:1.4meditate on the ugly aspects of the body:

thig5.4:2.1as this is, so is that,

thig5.4:2.2as that is, so is this.

thig5.4:2.3A foul stink wafts from it,

thig5.4:2.4it is the fools’ delight.”

thig5.4:3.1Reflecting in such a way,

thig5.4:3.2tireless all day and night,

thig5.4:3.3having broken through

thig5.4:3.4with my own wisdom, I saw.

thig5.4:4.1Being diligent,

thig5.4:4.2rationally investigating,

thig5.4:4.3I truly saw this body

thig5.4:4.4both inside and out.

thig5.4:5.1Then, growing disillusioned with the body,

thig5.4:5.2I became dispassionate within.

thig5.4:5.3Diligent, detached,

thig5.4:5.4I’m quenched and at peace.
