iti101:0.1So It Was Said 101
iti101:0.2The Book of the Fours
iti101:0.3The Chapter on the Brahmin’s Offering of the Teaching
iti101:0.4Easy to Find
iti101:1.1This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.
iti101:2.1“Mendicants, these four trifles are easy to find and are blameless.
iti101:2.2What four?
iti101:2.3Rag-robes …
iti101:2.4A lump of almsfood …
iti101:2.5Lodgings at the root of a tree …
iti101:2.6Rancid urine as medicine …
iti101:2.7These four trifles are easy to find and are blameless.
iti101:2.8When a mendicant is content with trifles that are easy to find, they have one of the factors of the ascetic life, I say.”
iti101:2.9The Buddha spoke this matter.
iti101:2.10On this it is said:
iti101:3.1“When one is content with what’s blameless,
iti101:3.2trifling, and easy to find,
iti101:3.3they don’t get distressed
iti101:3.4about lodgings, robes,
iti101:3.5food, and drink,
iti101:3.6and they’re not obstructed anywhere.
iti101:4.1These qualities are said to be
iti101:4.2integral to the ascetic life.
iti101:4.3They’re mastered by a mendicant,
iti101:4.4content and diligent.”
iti101:5.1This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
