iti21:0.1So It Was Said 21

iti21:0.2The Book of the Ones

iti21:0.3Chapter Three

iti21:0.4A Pure Mind

iti21:1.1This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.

iti21:2.1“Mendicants, when I’ve comprehended the mind of an individual whose mind is pure, I understand:

iti21:2.2‘If this individual were to die right now, they would be placed in heaven as if delivered there.’

iti21:2.3Why is that?

iti21:2.4Because their mind is pure.

iti21:2.5Purity of mind is the reason why some sentient beings, when their body breaks up, after death, are reborn in a good place, a heavenly realm.”

iti21:2.6The Buddha spoke this matter.

iti21:2.7On this it is said:

iti21:3.1“Knowing an individual’s

iti21:3.2pure mind,

iti21:3.3the Buddha explained this matter

iti21:3.4in the mendicants’ presence.

iti21:4.1If that individual

iti21:4.2were to die at this time,

iti21:4.3they’d be reborn in heaven,

iti21:4.4for their mind is pure.

iti21:5.1That sort is raised up as surely

iti21:5.2as if they’d been carried and put there.

iti21:5.3For purity of mind is the reason

iti21:5.4sentient beings go to a good place.”

iti21:6.1This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
