iti5:1.1This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.
iti5:2.1“Mendicants, give up one thing
iti5:2.2and I guarantee you non-return.
iti5:2.3What one thing?
iti5:2.4Disdain is the one thing. Give it up,
iti5:2.5and I guarantee you non-return.”
iti5:2.6The Buddha spoke this matter.
iti5:2.7On this it is said:
iti5:3.1“When overcome by disdain
iti5:3.2beings go to a bad place.
iti5:3.3Having rightly understood that disdain,
iti5:3.4the discerning give it up.
iti5:3.5Once they’ve given it up,
iti5:3.6they never return to this world.”
iti5:4.1This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
