iti15:0.1So It Was Said 15

iti15:0.2The Book of the Ones

iti15:0.3Chapter Two

iti15:0.4The Fetter of Craving

iti15:1.1This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.

iti15:2.1“Mendicants, I do not see a single fetter, fettered by which people wander and transmigrate for a long time like the fetter of craving.

iti15:2.2Fettered by craving, people wander and transmigrate for a long time.”

iti15:2.3The Buddha spoke this matter.

iti15:2.4On this it is said:

iti15:3.1“Craving is a person’s partner

iti15:3.2as they transmigrate on this long journey.

iti15:3.3They go from this state to another,

iti15:3.4but don’t escape transmigration.

iti15:4.1Knowing this danger,

iti15:4.2that craving is the cause of suffering—

iti15:4.3rid of craving, free of grasping,

iti15:4.4a mendicant would wander mindful.”

iti15:5.1This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
