iti16:0.1So It Was Said 16

iti16:0.2The Book of the Ones

iti16:0.3Chapter Two

iti16:0.4A Trainee (1st)

iti16:1.1This was said by the Buddha, the Perfected One: that is what I heard.

iti16:2.1“Taking into account interior factors, mendicants, I do not see a single one that is so very helpful as rational application of mind for a trainee mendicant who hasn’t achieved their heart’s desire, but lives aspiring to the supreme sanctuary from the yoke.

iti16:2.2A mendicant rationally applying the mind gives up the unskillful and develops the skillful.”

iti16:2.3The Buddha spoke this matter.

iti16:2.4On this it is said:

iti16:3.1“There is nothing so helpful

iti16:3.2for a trainee mendicant

iti16:3.3aspiring for the ultimate goal

iti16:3.4as rational application of mind.

iti16:3.5Striving rationally, a mendicant

iti16:3.6attains the end of suffering.”

iti16:4.1This too is a matter that was spoken by the Blessed One: that is what I heard.
